My Dream Car List (Strictly models that are still being made!)

Hey, folks! Been a minute, huh? I guess I kind of forgot about the blog for a couple months there. Thankfully, I'm here to change that. Let's dive in...

For today's post, I thought it could could be fun to list some of my dream cars with some important stipulations:
  • The vehicle must be available in the United States.
  • It must be plausible that I could afford it in the future, even if it's through financing.
  • It must still be in production with no sign of being discontinued in the near future.
Why am I making this? Well, as you could guess, I love cars. More accurately, I love certain types of cars. I'm a picky driver, you could say. I either love or hate cars and by extension, body styles. I value sleek cars that reflect my personality and style. So, this list may not be what you're expecting. Here it is:

Compact Sedans
  • Corolla XSE: As a (modded) 2023 Corolla LE owner, I'd love to own the top of the line 2025 XSE Corolla. I think you have to own a modern Rolla to truly understand why, but it's a delightful car to drive.
  • Civic SI: Okay, this is a very obvious pick, but I stand by it. I think it's way more attractive than any of the hatchback offerings of the Civic. That includes the Type R. I just feel like its proportions are pretty much perfect.
  • Elantra N: I want this car in that striking blue color. A normal Elantra would also be great if the N-line goes away.
  • Kia K4 GT: I initially didn't like the K4's polarizing design, but it looks way better in person. I've grown to love it. I'm also excited for the EV4 when it drops.
  • Jetta GLI: The one German car on this list. BMW and Audi make some awesome sedans but I consider these to be out of reach, at least if I plan to be fiscally responsible in the future.
  • Sentra: Nissan cooked, sue me. Future sport version, maybe? Hoping.
  • Mazda 3: Well, I guess I'm listing most (if not all) of the compact sedans still being sold in the U.S. Come to think of it, that was probably the point. I love compact cars!
Mid-Size Sedans:
  • The NEW Camry: My mom has a 2025 Camry, and I suspect it might be my next car when she moves on to her next vehicle in a few years. Why? Well, the Camry is no longer boring. I'd argue the (current) 12th-gen Corolla isn't either; hell, I bought one. Anyway, I've had the privilege to drive her Camry... And it's plenty zippy. I also love that it's a hybrid. Despite people gravitating toward crossovers (which I suspect will go out of fashion in the next decade or two), there's a reason the Camry is still one of the most popular new vehicles in the U.S. (it basically devoured the competition and is pretty timeless).
  • Honda Accord: I know some people hate the current generation (11th) Accord. I see it differently. I find it very refined and sophisticated looking. It's a handsome car, no doubt. I'd happily pick one of these up. I've also had my own Accord in the past, albeit a 2009, and I drove a 2020 as my daily for a whole month when I was out a car.
  • Kia K5 GT: Another beauty. I hope it stays around for another generation. Fingers crossed.
2 Door Coupes (not SUV "coupes" LOL):
  • Toyota GR86: This thing is awesome. And relatively cheap! It may not be the easiest to find, but I'd happily own this car. It's beautiful, fun, and stylish. That's what I look for in any car.
  • Mustang GT: Just putting this on here to have an American car on the list. It's the only new American car I'd want to own. And it's really cool! I just tend to prefer Asian cars.
  • Miata: I love the little Miata convertibles. They're very compact and fun, both things I look for in cars (if you couldn't already tell).
Hatchbacks:
  • Acura Integra: I'm not keen on hatches, but this one is very pretty. Its base price is around the upper limit that I would deem acceptable for this list, but I wanted to include it anyway.
EVs (Just for kicks):
  • Hyundai Ioniq 6: This car looks weird but cool. Hoping sales will pick up soon. It's more affordable than a lot of EVs.
  • Kia EV4: This also has a divisive appearance, but I like it. Don't love it, though.
That's the list! Can you tell I have a type? At the very least, you could probably tell I have a visceral hatred toward crossovers and SUVs. I also have zero interest in trucks. Just not my thing.

Luckily, despite what automotive journalists might be spewing (for clicks), I strongly believe that affordable, sleek passenger cars will be a staple for years to come. If compact SUVs had filled that niche for everyone, compact cars wouldn't still see massive success in the U.S. market. So, I suspect my taste in cars will always be catered to. I hope.

...But what do I know? I'm just a guy with strong opinions that probably pissed some of you off. Not that I care. But hopefully some of you might agree with me!

That's about it, though. Thanks for reading!

Interested in older, weirder cars? I made a list of the ones I wanted... Almost two years ago. Time flies! My preferences have changed a lot. I really don't like most of these anymore. But I still think it's an entertaining read. Taste evolves, I guess... Go ahead, take a gander!

It's a lil wacky!

What's in John's Backpack? (EDC)

I may no longer be a computer science major, but I'm still fascinated by electronics of all kinds. That's why I take great pleasure in writing about my "everyday carry," that being the devices that I regularly take along with me. These are often being swapped around, as I am an enthusiast at heart, but some of these have stuck around for a long time. So, here's the list: Phone: iPhone 15 Pro (128 GB) It's a very nice phone. That's about all I have to say about it. Like most people, I'm pretty apathetic toward iPhones. I prefer iOS for my needs, and it does what I need it to. 'Nuff said. Laptop: MacBook Pro 14" (2023, M3) I feel bad for my MacBook Pro. It gets tossed around in my bag, is constantly being used, and has a fair few battle scars. But it keeps on going. This laptop has gotten me through college thus far, and I'm hoping I won't have to replace it for a few more years. Watch: Apple Watch SE (the newest one) I swear that this i...

I love my Instax Mini SE. Here's why!

Hey, folks! I did it. I finally got into instant photography. And I love it. Admittedly, I've had some experience with instant photography before now. I got my first instant camera at a thrift store in 2022. It was a Polaroid OneStep from the 90s, and while film was still readily available for it, it was far too expensive to justify using it regularly. As cool as instant photography was, I accepted that it wasn't economically viable for me and moved on. ...Until about a month ago! On one of my first dates with my girlfriend, she introduced me to her Fujifilm Instax Mini 11. It was a much more compact and modern instant camera than my Polaroid. It also used smaller film slides. This was a big deal, as she informed me that the smaller film came at a smaller price. I was intrigued. A couple weeks later, I ventured to Walmart and splurged. I picked up the cheapest Instax they sold: The Mini SE. It only cost about $57, and it came bundled with 10 slides of film. I also picked up an ...
