Meet StreakWriter!

Are you an aspiring author, an English student, or just someone who wants to write better? If so, StreakWriter might just be the iOS app for you! This application not only makes writing in your free time easier, but it also incentivizes you to do so. Writing can be difficult, but StreakWriter makes it less daunting.

How does it work?
That’s all well and good, but how does StreakWriter actually do this? Well, there are a few main ways it accomplishes this:
  • Goals: Rather than simply providing a blank canvas, StreakWriter provides six different quick and easy writing goals for you to choose from. Each goal requires a minimum amount of characters to be written to be met, and you can easily track how close you are to meeting this requirement as you write. Having something to work towards makes writing much easier, and choosing a goal to work towards certainly can make writing less stressful.
  • Streak: As you could probably guess from the name, StreakWriter also involves keeping a streak. If you meet at least one goal every day, you will add a day to your writing streak. This is yet another great way that this app incentivizes writing!
  • Experience Score: Finally, you can see how far you have come via your overall experience score. Each goal gives you a certain amount of experience depending on its difficulty, and this score is comprised of all the points you have earned.

Where can I get it?
StreakWriter is currently available exclusively for iOS devices, and you can download it from the App Store. It's totally free, and there are no ads or similar annoyances to worry about. After all, this app is supposed to make writing easier, not harder!

Final thoughts...
I have to admit, it's been a lot of fun making StreakWriter! It's amazing to see what originated as a random idea that I had in the middle of the night become a reality, and I really look forward to seeing how it evolves. Anyway, I sincerely hope that all of you enjoy StreakWriter, and thanks for reading. I have a lot planned for this app and other projects, so stay tuned for more updates!

What's in John's Backpack? (EDC)

I may no longer be a computer science major, but I'm still fascinated by electronics of all kinds. That's why I take great pleasure in writing about my "everyday carry," that being the devices that I regularly take along with me. These are often being swapped around, as I am an enthusiast at heart, but some of these have stuck around for a long time. So, here's the list: Phone: iPhone 15 Pro (128 GB) It's a very nice phone. That's about all I have to say about it. Like most people, I'm pretty apathetic toward iPhones. I prefer iOS for my needs, and it does what I need it to. 'Nuff said. Laptop: MacBook Pro 14" (2023, M3) I feel bad for my MacBook Pro. It gets tossed around in my bag, is constantly being used, and has a fair few battle scars. But it keeps on going. This laptop has gotten me through college thus far, and I'm hoping I won't have to replace it for a few more years. Watch: Apple Watch SE (the newest one) I swear that this i...

I love my Instax Mini SE. Here's why!

Hey, folks! I did it. I finally got into instant photography. And I love it. Admittedly, I've had some experience with instant photography before now. I got my first instant camera at a thrift store in 2022. It was a Polaroid OneStep from the 90s, and while film was still readily available for it, it was far too expensive to justify using it regularly. As cool as instant photography was, I accepted that it wasn't economically viable for me and moved on. ...Until about a month ago! On one of my first dates with my girlfriend, she introduced me to her Fujifilm Instax Mini 11. It was a much more compact and modern instant camera than my Polaroid. It also used smaller film slides. This was a big deal, as she informed me that the smaller film came at a smaller price. I was intrigued. A couple weeks later, I ventured to Walmart and splurged. I picked up the cheapest Instax they sold: The Mini SE. It only cost about $57, and it came bundled with 10 slides of film. I also picked up an ...
